Scouting Notes

Downhill, sure-tackling safety making the two-step jump to Clemson with more analytics support than most portal defensive backs get — PFF's early 2027 board slots him at No. 60 as its highest-graded returning safety. Myrick earned the numbers with a 91-tackle 2025 at Southern Miss that added four passes defensed, two interceptions and a forced fumble; the volume paints a run-support profile that tends to travel better than most G5 traits. However, this grade deliberately discounts the board placement: the entire meaningful resume is one Sun Belt season (two games at Marshall before it), and safeties who feast at that level get re-tested immediately by ACC receiving speed. The gap between PFF's No. 60 and this fringe number is a single question — level of competition — and Clemson's schedule answers it inside two months. Priority-free-agent baseline today, with an obvious re-rate coming if the tackling and instincts travel up a level.
