Scouting Notes

Tackling volume you cannot fake: 133 stops in 2025 led the Sun Belt and ranked seventh nationally, and Florida State imported the Southern Miss standout to run its defense as the day-one LB1. The trajectory is steep — 46 tackles in nine games as a freshman, then 133 in twelve — and the early Tallahassee returns from spring were uniformly positive, with the linebacker room reportedly built around him. The evaluation brakes are firm, though: the production came at the Group-of-5 level, only 51 of the 133 tackles were solo — a low ratio that hints at cleanup work near the pile rather than sideline-to-sideline range — and 3.5 sacks with 2 breakups is a thin splash column for that volume. G5 tackle leaders jumping to the P4 either validate fast or vanish. Fringe 2028 track until the volume repeats against ACC offenses; 100 tackles at FSU with a stronger solo rate starts a real Day 3 conversation.
