Scouting Notes

Forty-one consecutive starts at left tackle, Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, and the most-mocked Hoosier in the 2027 cycle — the market has made up its mind on Smith, and the market might be right. A former three-star (No. 730 nationally) who out-developed his ranking entirely, he has been the one constant on an Indiana line that carried the program into the Playoff era, and On3 calls him a top-15 player in the sport. However, this evaluation deliberately sits below the 76 first-round mocks, and here is the stance: the pro projection almost certainly involves a kick inside or to the right side, and repositioned college left tackles get re-priced fast once arm length and testing numbers land. The durability and week-to-week consistency are bankable; the Round 1 consensus is not, yet. Late-round track on this board until the athletic profile confirms — with full acknowledgment the league may disagree loudly in April.
