Scouting Verdict
Big-framed rhythm passer at 6-4, 225 with the longest production trail in this conversation — a 3,000-yard freshman year at UNLV, a midseason takeover at USC in 2024, then a full 3,711-yard, 24-touchdown season running Lincoln Riley's offense. Maiava has thrown for nearly 8,000 career yards, and the 157.8 rating in his first full Trojan season shows real command of a pro-style passing structure. The arm reaches every level and the experience is bankable. However, the interception count has never come down — ten picks in each of his two full seasons and six more in half of 2024 — and that is the number a quarterback room circles first; decision-making under duress is what separates his tier from the one above it. Riley-system quarterbacks also carry evaluation baggage, fair or not. A cleaner touchdown-to-pick ratio in 2026 puts him firmly in the Day 2 quarterback discussion for 2027; the résumé already guarantees the long look.
