Scouting Notes

Towering 6-5 pocket operator who took over Minnesota as a redshirt freshman-year starter and never gave the job back: 2,382 yards, 18 touchdowns to 6 picks at 63.2 percent across a full 12-game season. The ball security is inherited — he threw 89 touchdowns against 7 interceptions over his last two Fayetteville years — and it transferred to the Big Ten intact, which is why the 2027 first-round buzz (a CBS mock as high as No. 4) started so early. However, the efficiency underneath is modest: barely 6.1 yards per attempt, and minus-119 rushing yards confirm he created nothing outside the pocket while eating sacks. Add the May arrest he's had to answer for publicly, and 2026 is a prove-it year on two fronts. Day 2 grade today; if the yards-per-attempt climbs with a second year in the system, the top-of-the-class conversation becomes legitimate.
