A seasoned, tough-minded starter who followed his coordinator to Penn State with four years of Power-conference reps behind him. Becht threw for 3,000-plus yards twice at Iowa State and owns 64 career passing touchdowns, and the resume is the sell: back-to-back high-volume seasons and a decision-maker who has seen every look. However, the trend line is the concern. His production dipped in 2025 (16 touchdowns, nine picks, a 134.8 rating) from his 25-touchdown 2024, and the interception total has held at eight or nine three years running, so the ball security has not tightened as the experience piled up. He adds designed-run value (eight rushing scores in each of the last two years) and arrives as the clear QB1. Projects as a Day 3-to-priority-free-agent quarterback whose experience and toughness give him a backup-caliber pro path if the turnover rate settles.
