Scouting Notes

Ball-hawking cornerback whose 2025 breakout was a full-blown takeover — five interceptions and seven breakups as BYU's DB1 after three quiet developmental years. Johnson closes on the throw with real speed (EA and local coverage flag him among the Big 12's fastest) and turned a walk-on-caliber recruiting profile into a genuine playmaking season. His own evaluator's board slots him CB8 and top-100. However, that grade is largely a one-year, self-anchored read: national boards run colder, closer to the undrafted range, and a single breakout on a modest pedigree needs the repeat to confirm it was skill over variance. What you want in 2026 is a second high-takeaway year against Big 12 receivers. Fast, instinctive and a legitimate late-round flyer; the grade reflects a Day 3/priority-free-agent projection resting on whether the ball production holds.
