Scouting Notes

The ranking said TE5 in the country; the stat sheet still says 26 career catches. Lyons left USC after two seasons of part-time usage — 20 catches, 223 yards and two scores at the 2025 high-water mark — and lands at BYU with a clear TE1 runway for the first time in his career. The 11.1 yards per catch last fall at least hints at usage beyond the checkdown, and the 6-4, 245 frame is why the pedigree (No. 126 national) hasn't expired yet. However, a former top-130 recruit entering year three with 26 receptions is a projection, and the grade treats him as one: the athletic profile bought the ranking, but nothing on the ledger yet forces an NFL evaluation. The 2028 timeline gives him two seasons in Provo — a 40-catch 2026 would put the draftable conversation back on schedule.
