Scouting Notes

The corner at the center of college football's most famous tampering fight, and worth the trouble on the field — after leaving Wisconsin for Miami he broke out with 45 tackles, eight passes defensed and an interception as a 6-2, 198-pound boundary presence. Lucas fits the prototype sheet: former top-375 recruit, press-corner length, and a locked-in return to Miami for 2026 alongside a talented secondary. SI has floated sleeper-first-round language for 2027. However, the ball production does not yet match the buzz — two career interceptions, and coverage reputations built on breakups alone tend to deflate at the next level's catch points; Draft Scout's dissenting 2028 projection says part of the industry wants to see more. He also has yet to string together consecutive full seasons in one scheme. The 2026 tape as Miami's CB1 settles the argument. Today this is a fringe-draftable grade for 2027 with mid-round upside if the takeaways finally arrive.
