Scouting Notes

This grade is pedigree with a down payment. Lightfoot arrived at Miami as the No. 31 player in the country and the No. 4 edge in his class, and his first real season produced 25 tackles and 2.5 sacks — a start, not a statement. The program is openly positioning him as the successor to its edge-terror lineage, and at 6-5 there's obvious length to build on. However, 230 pounds remains lean for an every-down edge role, and top-35 recruits with one 2.5-sack season are projection plays by definition: he has to add mass and production simultaneously, and the 2026 sack column has to start resembling the recruiting rank. There's no draft-board presence yet beyond a stray seventh-round mock, which is the market being honest. Fringe-draftable projection in the 2028 class as it stands, with a genuine ceiling swing available — few players on this roster would move their grade faster with one loud October.
